OUTLINE of the Macsorb

Conventional surface area measuring instruments place a heavy work load on operators, especially when dealing with data management after measurement and simple human measurement errors have been an unavoidable problem to stable data measurement.

The Automatic BET Surface Area Analyzer Macsorb solves these problems; Macsorb now allows direct control by PC and complete automation of all processes. After a sample has been set, the procedures for deaeration, adsorption, desorption and calibration are automatic and the PC can be left to carry out each process.

●All processes of deaeration, adsorption, desorption and calibration are automated; human error has been completely eliminated. →Operation
●The automatic calibration function controls and minimizes any influence on data caused by changes of the outside air environment.
●Since the temperature within the system is held in a constant-temperature layer, any affect caused by a change of temperature within the system is limited.
●The cooling of liquid nitrogen in a cell at the time of adsorption is controlled and fixed by a new surface level sensor mechanism, resulting in higher reproducibilitywhen compared with conventional similar equipment.
●An automatic SETZERO calibration function is incorporated.
●A high-temperature heater for deaeration is incorporated into the main unit and operators do not need to touch the heat source directly, ensuring safety.

■Full control by PC with easy-to-use and advanced software

●On the monitor screen of the PC, the TCD reaction raw data curve at adsorption, desorption and calibration are displayed in real time, ensuring the reliability of measured data, the compatibility of pre-processing conditions and the state of the unit to be read from the graphs.
●In addition to surface area, actual surface area, deaeration condition, cell weight, sample weight, equilibrium relative pressure, adsorption amount, desorption amount and calibration value, a detailed measurement history such as the adsorption curve, desorption curve and calibration curve is saved, enabling many different types of data comparison that are not found in conventional methods.
●High-performance advanced optional software such as correlation control and correction software, or standard powder correction software.

■A flexible system structure, appropriate to the environment can be chosen.

●By selecting and adding a variety of optional units, it is possible to conduct multi-point measurement; the preheat unit improves the efficiency of the multi-sample measurement and the auto sampler allows fully-automated operation up to a maximum of 30 samples.
●The main unit, auto sampler and each optional part are designed as independent units, making it easy to respond to any unexpected accidents. Maintenance can be carried out without interrupting the flow of measurement work.
